MAA MARAM?
The word Maa Maram [மா மரம்] means,
a huge tree, in Tamizh.
ABOUT US
While the seed of this tree, Maa Maram, was sown some time ago, it has endured an arduous journey to finally flourish in recent years. Drawing inspiration from nature and its resilience, Maa Maram - the theatre company, is now living up to its name and providing for its environment and surroundings.
Primarily established by actors from the Chennai-based theatre group Koothu-p-Pattarai, Maa Maram is a theatre company comprising artists based in Chennai and Bangalore. We come together to create art that comes from deep inquiry and offer our learning through workshop programmes that are relevant to the times and spaces we inhabit.

OUR OBJECTIVES
-
To craft world-class plays that can be performed all across India and develop a body of work that serves as a valuable resource for fostering theatre within communities
-
To establish a corpus fund that can be utilised to bolster theatre initiatives at the community level, as well as in schools and colleges.
-
To provide theatre-focused workshops tailored for schools, colleges, corporations, and the wider community that aim to help individuals unlock their sense of play, curiosity, creativity, and the innate desire to connect and collaborate.
